Off the back of the encouragement from my Partner and Family to 'journal' some of the challenges and frustrations I have trying to develop a social impact property business: I imagine partly because they're fed up with me just trying to unload onto them, I thought it might be useful (and maybe even interesting) to document my journey for all to see, and on a platform wider than my own diary at home.
The Good Homes Project exists to deliver sustainable housing solutions that empower tenants and leave a lasting social impact.
Cool, but does that mean? Put simply, we're interested in creating homes for people that need them, and in a way which ensures they stand the test of time.
TGHP operates in two parts. Firstly, providing development, acquisitions and asset management services for those operating in the supported and affordable housing space, and secondly, using revenues from those activities to build our own supply of affordable accommodation that is tailored toward the needs of those living in them.
In the medium term it's my hope that I can access private finance to bolster our efforts, providing investors with access to verifiable social impact 'investments', whilst also adhering to my own high standards of quality, transparency and value for money.
